An Ayn Rand Collection

Ayn Rand grew up in Soviet Russia and traveled Eastern Europe for university schooling. She then moved to Hollywood and worked as a screenwriter and met her husband Frank who was an actor. He became a painter. Her mind is one that rejected the collectivist ideology so far, that she created a new doctrine of Individualism as a complete and opposite replacement ideology. It took awhile before Atlas Shrugged was recognized and not ridiculed. Ayn Rand left us with a good set of logic tools to disembowel the Red' s gibberish.

What is glossed over when understanding her writings is that she grew up and went to universities under the Soviets. Reading criticisms from North America the critics forget this and try to walk through her thought on the middle road, which is a mud road. Having grew up, experienced, and rejected the other extreme, and I being one who has seen the post-modern world through the lens of one extreme so I see through me her approach, she took the paved cart road. She choose to not get mud on her feet by compromising the principles she was asserting but to present them in a pure form on a road paved before her. In opposition to extreme collectivism that is manifested as Bolshevism; she had to present it' s antithetical nemesis; extreme individualism. There is no other way to present her philosophy, to present it and water it down as her critics wished, for to have done so would have compromised the principles. A compromised principle ceases to be a principle. Her characters revolve around this and it is nothing new, this is a Greco-Roman tradition.

Ayn Rand' s mentor was Isabel Paterson, and an interesting preliminary read is her The God of The Machine.
